This past week has been a lovely blur. My sister Natalie came out to spend some time with us and I'm so happy that she's here. We were invited by Spencer's first cousin once removed to his families cabin in Maine. We had a great time with the kids playing in the woods and on the gymnastics mats in the yard. We went on a late night walk and looked at the stars, we played Ticket to Ride, watched a moment of football, ate some delicious food, and went to the beach. Despite the confusing and some what distant cousin relationships, we all actually know each other a bit and are grateful for the family ties.
In this picture we have the two sisters; Anna and Kate, with their First Cousin Once Removed Eliza, and their Second Cousin Bryn. However they're related they are each delightful little girls who played together really well and had a great time. Kate keeps telling people that she went on her cousins roof, she thought that was terribly exciting! Anna played with the big girls the whole time. At first I was a little concerned as the older two are nine years old and Anna is of course four; but they made room for her in their play and she did a good job of navigating the situation and speaking up for herself. The beach in the background is Gooch's Beach, it had the best waves I've seen since moving here.
Anna ran after this bit of seafoam as it skirted over the wet sand, it was really windy!
And Adam watched the big boys go crabbing, they used turkey as bait and it worked like a charm.
It was a great break from our everyday and reminded me of how many ways we can be happy.
