1. Running and Tracy Anderson - I need to cross train as my achilles is acting up. Enter already owned Tracy Anderson DVD, still hard, still helpful
2. Cash only: for groceries that is. I pull the cash I have allotted at the beginning of the month - that's all we get. If I stick to my budget not only are we saving for a very necessary basement renovation, but I get to go clothes shopping.
3. CSA - I'm participating in a CSA (community sponsored agriculture). I LOVE this change. We've only been doing it since November but every Wednesday I get new organic vegetables and fruit that I've pre-paid for from a small farmer. We have been eating so many more veggies and I love supporting small farmers. If you want to learn more about this important issue read, Animal Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver - it's SUCH a good book.
4. Granola - we eat a lot of it. If you want a good, quick, easy to alter recipe try this one.
5. Preschool - we've been working in a co-op this year where the curriculm was put together by my friend and former Montessori teacher Charisse. Anna is doing really well under this curriculm. So well that when we went to a preschool open house for next year and the teacher described what they would be working on, I said, "Hmmm" as I watched Anna teach another child how to use a sand toy. So... instead I sent out an email to our preschool group and said that ideally I would like to pay Charisse and have her teach the kids next year and that I knew you can't get what you want unless you ask. The stars aligned and Charisse is going to teach Anna next year. I'm so excited.
6. Allowance - the girls earn an allowance that they receive on Saturdays if they clean their room and the play room before dinner every night.
7. Dressing - this caused daily drama; enter Primary Presidency. They are challenging the kids to see if one daily act of service makes a difference in their family. The girls daily act of service is getting themselves dressed. I know. But they are picking their clothes out every night before they go to bed (I have to help with this part because they can't reach them) laying them out, and getting dressed by themselves every morning. It's been a game changer.
8. The kids are all a year older in church programs. This means Anna is a sunbeam and Adam is in nursery. While sitting next to Spencer during Sunday School it honestly felt like a date. And what a time to participate. While our lesson was going on a team from the BBC walks in with a huge camera and starts recording.
9. I'm enjoying my design blog. My friend Megan and I are doing a giveaway right now, if you want to enter click here.
9. Coconut oil: for my hair and dry; elbows, feet, knees, even my face. I'm a dry girl.

Cash for groceries is the hardest change I've ever made--but also the best. It really makes me careful about what I buy.
I was going to sign up to do Bountiful Baskets in Utah but we moved before I had the chance and they don't do it here. Sad.
I haven't gone to Sunday School in over 8 years. I can't even imagine it anymore. Sitting? In church? Whaaa?
I am ALSO enjoying 2nd and Strand. So awesome, dude. So awesome.
holy cow is your ward like the poster ward for the church ;)
I would love to do the vegetable thing but haven't found it here but luckily our little superette up the street has all locally grown produce :)
And what a cool experience for preschool Anna is going to get to have...I wish that we lived closer and I would just copy everything you do :)
The news teams are coming to our ward specifically because Mitt used to be bishop here. I guess that's probably important info to the story :)
I love you, what a great list! Thanks for being such a good mom and homemaker. I'm excited that Anna has a great class for preschool next fall! And I'm happy you are working with the farmer. Congratulations on all these accomplishments.
