There was a man in our ward who creeped me out. I wanted people to be between him and me, almost to protect me from him, I wanted Spencer to talk to him for me. I talked to Spencer about it and he said, "Tell him what to do. You tell people what to do all day long, tell him what to do." Well I did. And I continue to do so every Sunday. Instead of being creeped out by him, I set the parameters; and now I can appreciate the service he does provide to our church instead of wishing he'd just go away - which isn't very nice is it? When he's bugging me I tell him I've got to go, I tell him to leave my kids alone, I tell him whatever. It's funny because I try to teach my girls this lesson all the time. When Kate comes to me and says, "Anna took my toy" for instance, I ask her, "Did you like it?". She says, "no", and I say, "tell her". I think this is a particularly important lesson to teach my girls, and apparently it will take a few tries, because I keep forgetting myself.
