Happier News
We loved the Grand Canyon. We stayed at an adorable lodge on the North Rim that my father-in-law, Jerry, worked in 53 years ago. There was a picture of him holding his trumpet and the rest of his band hanging on a wall in the lodge. It really made the trip very meaningful. We were out walking to an overlook of Bright Angel Canyon and a storm was approaching, you could see a wall of water coming at us and I thought it was one of the more beautiful things I'd ever seen. Speaking of beautiful things, we saw a herd of bison walking and a baby bison was running, surprisingly quickly, to catch up. It was adorable. It's definitely good for the soul to be in an area where you can see for miles and miles of beautiful forests and meadows. We'll definitely go back.
We also loved hiking around Zion National Park on the way to the Grand Canyon. Spencer's parents rented a house at the mouth of the canyon and we hiked around that park for a day. Spencer and I and Mere and James got up early and hiked Angel's Landing. I think this was my favorite part of the trip - it was all very good, but this was the best.

Andrea, you look so pretty! I love these pictures. The first one looks completely fake--seriously! That background could be a painting. Beautiful. I can't believe you hiked Angels Landing with a baby. That's like a 2 day hike!
You're giving me too much credit, it is only 4 miles if you don't hike out on the technical part - which I didn't.
from Lorena:
What?! You are already going on family hiking trips? Isn't the baby like a month old or something?
The trip you took is on my list of things I can't believe I haven't done yet and definitely need to do in the near future. Looks amazing!
So, I am wondering, do you have any regret about leaving that DVD player on the side of the road? I am WAY impressed. Great story.
you're so cool!
and angel's landing is definitely the coolest hike i've taken!
Really? My dad and brothers and Dave did it last summer and it was waaay more than 4 miles I thought? It took them 2 days!
