Am I really that old?

For my 30th (gasp) birthday Spencer and I had a really good time. But let me share with you the fiasco that led up to my birthday date and just how many people it took to make it happen. This story proves I'm 30, because life is not this complicated when you're 20.

My friend Sarah with the help of Spencer planned this really fantastic birthday party for me that was kid inspired and sounded oh so fun. Well, we canceled it because we thought half of the attendees would have to help a man move that night. Turns out this man didn't need help, but it was kind of too late when we put all the pieces together. So Spencer steps up to the plate, like he always does, and tracks down a babysitter so we can go out regardless. This is no easy task and he contacts approximately five people before he seals the deal. Babysitter check, reservations check; uh-oh he has to be in Glendale and I'm coming from the Westside for dinner reservations at 6:15 in West Hollywood on a Friday. By the way, we have one car. Sarah saves the day again and offers to let us borrow her car. Then I get a call from the babysitter at 3 o'clock, she has the flu. I call around and my friend Shauna will watch the girls, trouble is getting the girls to her house with no car. Sarah comes and picks the three of us up, drives us to Shauna's and I'm off.

The night was totally worth the hassle. We went to this pizzaria owned by Mario Batali and it was really yummy. Have you heard of Budoni - if you ever get a chance to try it, do; it's delicious. Then we went to LACMA and saw this really great exhibit by Jeff Koons that made me feel that I'm only 30. One of the greatest things about this museum is their lamppost exhibit.
It's magical.

Or frightening,

depending on the artist.

Happy birthday! I thought about you yesterday (wasn't it the 4th?). Sheesh, life IS complicated, especially with one car. We only have one too now and it STINKS. Nice work on Spencer's part, too. You totally deserved a nice night out.
