JD Morgan Award

Today Spencer received the Outstanding Student of the Year Award. This is obviously an annual award that is given to a senior student in the Department of Biomedical Informatics. He was selected because of the body of work that he has done since he started his Phd; including 10 publications in peer-reviewed journals. It was such a rewarding day. I was invited to the lunch with Spencer, the Dept. Chair, the selection committee, and the JD Morgan family (JD Morgan was a faculty member who made a donation that was large enough to give an annual award for years to come). Spencer then gave his first graduate seminar and did an excellent job. It was really wonderful hearing other people speak so highly of your spouse, and commenting on all the good things I already knew about him. We feel really blessed that he won this award and had this excellent opportunity to present to his faculty and a body of his peers. (Not to mention the check :))
