Primary

Anna was asked to share a "Child of God" moment in junior primary this morning.  Yesterday when I asked her if she wanted to participate her first reaction was, umm, negative.  After she calmed down I explained to both her and Kate what a "Child of God" moment meant.  It's an invitation for a child to talk about a time that they felt that God loved them personally.  It was a nice chance to talk to the girls about times I've felt like God loved me and was proud of me.  Kate surprised me by mentioning that when she was praying for Aunt Michelle in Tonga she felt like God loved her and that He loved Michelle.  This was more than I had expected out of the exchange and I must admit I was satisfied all around.  And then Anna decided to add a cherry on top and said, "I'll do it".  I asked her what she was going to talk about.  She told me she wanted it to be a surprise.

I thought for about a half a second and realized that it would still be okay if it didn't go well on Sunday morning.  I asked Anna if she wanted help, she said no.  I asked if I could come watch and she said yes.  So I sat in junior primary for the opening this morning and watched my 4 year old, whose baby face I can still picture so clearly.  She sat up front, next to her friend and sang and looked very happy.  When it was her turn to speak she walked up to the podium and spoke loud and clear.  She said that one time we went camping and we were trying to put together the tent, but that it was dark.  She said she was scared and then she knew that everything was going to be okay because God loves her.  This camping trip took place last Spring, and she had never mentioned that this experience meant anything to her before.  I love being her Mom.

from Lorena: That is soooo sweet! Thanks for sharing. It is always good to be reminded of how much they take in and feel even at such a young age.
