I'm enjoying how Kate's outfit happened to coordinate with the exhibit, I totally planned that :)
This was a great exhibit to take the kids, except for the crowds. But the drawings are so colorful and imaginative, not to mention, emotional and a bit scary. There was a black light room with a circus styled mobile that they really enjoyed. I thought they would be more scared, I remember being turned off by a lot of his work as a child. But my kids didn't respond that way at all, I wonder if they can see the value in it more than I did? They displayed a lot of his drawings from his childhood; in Burbank, CA. (He thought Burbank super dull) His elementary school spiral notebooks looked so much like his most recent work. They also exhibited some funny letters from producers that had turned his ideas down, suggesting his themes were a bit dark.
I put the picture below in here because I want to remember how curious my daughters are. They don't know it themselves, but I see it. They walk into these circumstances because I plan them, and they often aren't thrilled with the idea. As long as they're not too hungry or too tired they seem to enjoy themselves. Here we're talking about the ceramic tile in this piece that Henri Matisse created for the Brody family. You can read about it here if you're interested. I love me some Matisse, there are a few prints that I really want for our bedroom someday, his work is so sculptural, but in 2D. I think Kate and Anna could do a take on this though, paper cut-outs is how Matisse started after all :)
And yes, I'm going to miss this museum.

I hear Boston has a few museums...
Are you going to encourage a few matisse-esque nudes?
Do you like how I'm rockin' the boat with these comments? So edgy.
The prints I want are nudes, that's why they're not in the public space of the living room - cuz I'm edgy too :)
Nudes! Awesome.
Tim Burton is not for me. I guess maybe in person I would see the value, but mostly it just seems freaky. You're a good mom, encouraging culture. I encourage a lot of tv watching, so, way to go.
I wish I had more of an appreciation for art...way to instill (or foster)it in your girls while they are young :)
