Strawberries

Tonight we had the Sister Missionaries over for dinner, an Elders Quorum Party at our house, and a Relief Society Planning Meeting to top the evening off.  For those of you who don't speak Mormon-ease; that's two women, then a group of men, and then Kendra for a planning meeting.  This is not a strange evening at our house, and I am in no way complaining.  Having people over is one of the things Spencer and I like to do together - and now I'm going to tell you a story.

Early 2003 Spencer and I had been dating for a month or two and my brother Christian was coming to BYU for a visit.  I really wanted Christian to have a good time and with Spencer's help we started planning his visit.  I think Christian even stayed at Spencer's apartment, correct me if I'm wrong.  So together we took Christian snowboarding, dragged him to restaurants, tried to find non-existent parties, etc.  We also planned a party up at Spencer's parents then vacation home in Midway.  The day of the party I went with Spencer to Macey's to buy food, and I could tell he was taking this part of the party very seriously.  When we were up in Midway I remember rinsing strawberries in a colander and thinking, "I like working with him, and in this kitchen!".  In my defense it is a lovely kitchen.  Little did I know that  we would get engaged in that very same house a few months later at a graduation party, have countless dinners there, and wash many strawberries in that very sink.
