Record Keeping

Lest you think Anna is getting too big for her own good; here she is being too big for her baby brother's goods.

In our recent heat wave I've taken to spraying his blanket with water, swaddling his arms so he can sleep, and placing him in front of a fan.  He is a real trooper.  It's worrisome having a baby in 106 degree weather and no air conditioning.  But the worst is definitely behind us as we're slowly returning to our generally perfect weather.  

In other news, we've made some major headway in the Kate v. eczema department.  I think the worst offenders are dairy and soy.  The others are small contributing factors that we will avoid when possible; sugar is pretty easy to substitute, wheat we try to avoid, and beef we eat like twice a year anyway.  The one that is most annoying to me is the brewers yeast because it's pretty much in every vinegar, and it just seems wrong to not be able to use vinegars.  For Adam it seems that chocolate is the WORST  and really only offender.  The poor kid wakes himself up with this terrible colic cry that is reserved only for chocolate that his mother has selfishly consumed.  I have banished all chocolate from the house because I am too weak to otherwise not partake. The interesting thing is that raw chocolate seems to have no effect, I wonder if it's the combination of all the things added to chocolate, like milk, wheat, and soy.  We will live to investigate another day.  So Kate's skin looks pretty good and Adam has a happy tummy; all of this adds up to a job done; for now.
