Man Alive She's 5!
Kate ran out of preschool today and gave me a Mother's Day present of her hand print in clay, it was really well done. The circle was nice and round, her hand print was clear, and the paint was consistent and something about the experience reminded me of her hand prints when she was born; which made me think back to my first Mother's Day. We brought Kate home from the hospital that day, here she is with my Dad in all her glory. I remember putting her in that outfit and thinking - I don't think it's supposed to be so loose. And thinking something similar when we put her in her car seat. That problem took a few nurses to resolve - but somehow we all got home.
Well today I went to Kate's preschool to bring a treat and I witnessed the same child doing such different things.
Here is a list of Kate's thoughts at age 5, may they always be so uplifting!

Happy Birthday Kate! I just can't believe it. I love her quotes. "I like her because I love her". Hang on to that one.

What a cutie! I love that she likes fuschia. I barely even know what that is. And I didn't know you had picked out a name! I love it!
Happy Happy Birthday Kate! I can't really believe you are five....soon you will be l0 and then 20 and then Grandma Nancy will be l00! Wow, that is scarry. I hope I get to see you for many, many years, because you are just the nicest 5 year old I know!!! I know a few others, but you are one of the best! Keep up your great personality. I can't wait to see you and do crafty things w/ you. My basement craft room is getting a little cleaner and you and Anna could pick out some fun treasures down there.
Love, Grandma Nancy
P.S. I would love to go to Disneyland with you.
Sweet, sweet Kate! That pic of her with your dad melts me! It's crazy to see how much she still looks like that after all this time.
Happy Mother's Day!!
And Adam Jones. So classic.
One of the things I love about Kate is her amazing smile. Her whole face gets happy, even her eyes twinkle! We love Kate!
