One of the benefits of having children is the many opportunities to slow down and do things right. Kate and I made a card for her friend's birthday today. We went to the Robert Sabuda website and used a template to make a pop-up card. It was really fun doing this with Kate. I also had to adjust somethings on my printer, talk to her about scale and proportion and the idea of 3D. It was really fun. We worked on her writing the number 5, did everything first in pencil, and then talked about how the sky and the ground always meet. This concept is going to take a few more tries. It was a really nice way to spend some time. Funny thing is, I really enjoy these sorts of concepts. I like thinking about proportion and scale and such. Weird that I don't spoil myself more often with activities like these.
