I left a small town in Ohio to go to college at BYU. One of the first things I noticed was that there were a LOT less obese people in Provo, Utah than I was used to seeing. This could be attributed to many things; age, socioeconomic issues, blah blah blah. But I remember mentioning this to my boyfriend at the time who was going to school in San Francisco. I remember him saying something like, "there is no way people are more fit there than they are here". Which could still be true, but is probably specific to the circle of people he saw. Because according to this highly reputable website I found, Utah is actually thinner than California. Who knew? But both thoroughly waste Ohio, which is too bad. I blame it on the buckeyes, not the team, but the candy.

hahahaha! Where is this website :: sounds fun :)
Are you trying to say your boyfriend was gay?
No, he went to Stanford and I think he just hung out with "achievers".
Haha, yeah, we laughed so hard when it was big on the news when Ohio was knocked from the fattest state glory after 2 years in a row. (If my memory is correct).
There was also a huge push from media outlets to get people in shape.
I've always wanted to try a buckeye... do you love them?
Well, we were also at BYU and I'm sure there are a lot more skinny people in college than out of. I wish I was a skinny utahn. Although I feel like a supermodel without my hugely pregnant tummy...and then i look in the mirror and remember I'm not.
What's a buckeye?!
Boy - I remembmer those yummy buckeyes when we lived in Ohio....before Spencer and Meredith....I had never heard of them called buckeyes....we always called them horsechestnuts....they fell off trees in SLC...I first tasted a buckeye candy when we moved to Ohio. I would love to eat one now, but I am doing good on my off sugar diet...can't wait to see you all. Love Mamasita Caliente
so funny! you showed him!
Obviously he had never spent very much time in the south. People are for sure bigger over there. When I lived in Arkansas, people always told me how Josh and I were soooo skinny.
BTW, I don't think were big, but we are not rock star skinny.
