A Resolution
More to come. But let's start here. I was reading a blog I like called Simply Modern Mom, and the author had an idea that intrigued me. She and her husband were going to have a date every week. But here's the interesting, and encouraging part; they're dates in. She even included a contract to fill out and sign if that would help you commit to the idea. Spencer and I stink at going out. We do fun things with the kids all week long, but we rarely pull the funds and a sitter together to go out - in fact, the last time we went out was my birthday - in October. Well, Spencer and I have committed to having one date night in a month and one date night out. So far the date night in was a great success. We watched the movie 500 Days of Summer (I really liked it) and I made this delicious chocolate mousse. You want to know the most surprising part? We really like us, we're funny and engaging, and we get along really well - who knew?

You're adorable. I really like this idea. And so important to do with kids (or future kids). Keep sharing your resolutions!
Such a good idea. I can't even remember the last date we had--like with a sitter and everything. Sad--but sitters double the cost of the date and double the cost of anything sucks. But I kind of miss dating. Maybe we'll try it too?
Can I suggest watching Oceans 11 for one date?
that is an awesome idea :: I think I will have to steal that :) Do you start your date in after the kiddies go to bed??
Eric and I are the same. We don't get out together much. We actually were talking about this last night and are going to make an effort to take some quality time with each other, hopefully, we will have similiar results.(: Props to you and Spence.
Oh yes, must be done after the kiddos are zonkin.
That's a great idea Andrea! Peter and I, too, have decided to make a commitment to date at least once a month. Though we always do fun things with the kids, we've decided alone time is becoming essential with three kiddos to run the household on a daily basis:) In fact, just last month we went out on a date (dinner and a movie) for the first time since we moved from Ohio - built in family sitters - so that's 2 1/2 years and two kids ago:) It was soooo nice!! Love the stay in date idea - although Peter and I do watch "The Biggest Loser" and "American Idol" together after bedtime - that's kind of like a date???
