I went to a preschool orientation meeting today and the teacher asked for an emergency outfit to be kept at the facility. Makes sense, but what do you do if your child only wears three outfits? Would Kate really just wear the same thing every other day? Yes she would. Would my pride allow this? Probably not. So we came home and I had resolved to buy her new clothes. Until I thought of an idea, she could try everything on in her closet and do a fashion show. I told her she didn't have to wear the outfits anywhere, just that she had to try EVERYTHING on. The outfit below she has never worn and I think it's pretty cute.
She tried it on and promptly said, "I don't want to wear this". I told her to go look in the mirror before she took it off, she did and came back and said, "I love this outfit and I love you too". That's an honest quote. Then I had another idea; we could take pictures of every outfit she promised to wear, she loved this picture taking session. After the session I uploaded all the pictures to snapfish, had them bind them in a 2x3 flip book and my hope is that when she refuses to wear something I can pull out the booklet and show her that at one point she liked said outfit. She didn't love every option, the mirror is not that powerful, but progress was made. Upon completion of our fashion show Kate had 22 wearable outfits as opposed to the 3 I thought she had. Glad I didn't go buy anything.

what a smart mommy and cute girls!!
They're all such great ideas! You're awesome.
Wow, Anna's hair has grown SO much!
And, yes, I do check your blog to see pics of your kids, but also to hear about you. :)
First nice job finishing the half that is awesome and I still need to check that one off. Second your story is hilarious. I forgot about how picky Kate was with her clothes I really miss her and all of you guys.
Nice! I wish the same were true for Isaac. He literally wears about 3 shirts because all the rest are too small/stained. I wish I had thought to do more thorough school shopping.
great idea. you're a real thinker!!
Good thinking. I have the opposite problem with Spencer--he loves all his clothes spends hours deciding which shirt to wear to school. The bummer of this is that he is really supposed to be wearing his uniform, which he absolutely refuses to put on. Maybe Kate will model it for him when she comes in October.
Girls and boys are SO different. My kids don't care at all what they are wearing. But I remember only wanting to wear a few (pretty hideous) outfits at Kate's age. SO funny.
