I Know I'm Going to Regret This
True confessions, I get most of my news from the Daily Show and an occasional NPR article. Most of my friends get their information from decidedly more conservative news sources. So I think you know where this is going. It's amazing how different these news sources are. AMAZING. I heard a bit from FOX while the tea parties were going on, by the way - Democrat who is not in favor of most of the bailout. This was very emotional coverage. Then the coverage from different sources, much less emotional and much more anti-FOX. The idea I heard most often was that FOX was really behind these parties, so much so that some thought they had sponsored them. I just don't want to be a sucker you know? It's so hard to form opinions when you know that the information is being seen through money hungry, rating driven eyes (on both sides).

When journalist Anderson Cooper (& others from MSM & CNN) covered the Tea Parties and all they could come up with were mocking sexual innuendos their bias seemed pretty clear.
I'm conservative and enjoy NPR. There's some slant on certain shows, but mostly its intelligent. I think the 24 hour news networks are worthless, on both sides.
The one slanted show I can't hardly take anymore is the Daily Show. I have been a big fan (since Craig Killborne), but lately I can barely get through an episode. I find John Stewart to be annoyingly preachy and I find his populist rants to be poorly thought-out. I know its a comedy show, but I feel likely lately its trying to be more than that without actualy having intellectual standards. Anyways, I miss the old show.
As a Democrat, have you noticed the same thing?
I like the Daily Show--and I am decidedly conservative. I take what he says with a grain of salt and laugh my buns off. I was really disappointed with the tea party coverage here though. I wish there was a truly unbiased news source, somewhere. I just want the facts, no slant.
Speaking of the Daily Show, on Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, Peter Segal said that if John Stewart weren't careful he would become a smaller, meaner, Mickey Rooney. I laughed a lot. The comments from Anderson Cooper and his team don't surprise me, they all play dirty.
I know what you mean :: we have to remember that everything, even "news" networks are owned by someone. We just have to do the research :)
Seriously, who do you believe? It's crazy out there.
