Karate Kate

Kate earned her first stripe on her white belt today. I was surprised how much this meant to me, and I hope to her. I just couldn't help but think about all the goals that she will work towards in her life, and that I think she will accomplish a lot. She's still a very small child, but she is already well on her way. This is a picture of Sensei Richard giving Kate her first stripe. FYI Sensei Richard was in the movie Power Rangers, so if you recognize him that's probably why :)

How cool is that!

Ah yes, Power Rangers. I knew I recognized him. :)

My nephew is in Tae Kwon Do and it is amazing the difference it has made for him (he's got Asberger syndrome). They talk constantly about respecting your parents, doing your homework, honoring your teachers, etc. and I LOVE it. I want to find a place here to put Isaac in, I think he'd love it.

Kate - grandma would like to visit you to see some of your moves....Your dad had fun in Karate, but he was older when he started. Congratulations on getting a new color on your belt. I'll bet you are terrific. Can't wait to see you. Hope it is soon. I miss you and Anna and your mom and dad too. Today I went to SLC and drove right past your old house...it made me sad that I couldn't stop in and visit.

Love, Grandma
