Spencer is the big 3-0!

To celebrate the man in our lives we all took a little trip to San Diego. Yesterday we went to Sea World, I would suggest that the Dolphin and Shamu shows are must sees,

while the penguin display is quite a downer. Have you seen Happy Feet? I'm sure they got that scene from Sea World San Diego, where the viewer is distracted from observing the penguins to contemplating their sad cage.

But on to happier things. We stayed till the park closed, long past dark, and got to see the show Shamu Rocks where a good portion of the audience has glow sticks. This show was the closest Spencer and I have been to a concert since we've met and it was surprisingly fun. Those killer whales are totally killer :) Does anyone know how the trainers are able to swim in the water with the whales and not drown every time? Seriously, the whale jumped straight up out of the water, the trainer was on his nose and swan dived off into the water as the whale came back down. Crazy.

That night we stayed downtown in a little boutique hotel, the Sofia and we all bunked up together. Sometimes boutique means really really small :) It was nice though. I know we won't always be able to sleep our entire family in such small quarters and I'm going to enjoy it while I can.

We breakfasted at Richard Walker's and it was delish. Afterward we drove to both Coronado and La Jolla Cove.

We didn't know that seals live at the cove, and were able to continue our Sea World weekend by watching them on the beach.

BTW, Spencer is a bit sad about turning 30, but I couldn't be happier. I think he's done so much that it should take at least 30 years to become as fantastic as he is.

You gotta love fun weekends with the family. I love that as you can see in our blog.

Okay gotta be honest, I would have never thought that Lyle's wife is your cousin. I met her at my little sisters Graduation from BYU in April. I believe Lyle graduated too because his parents flew up for that. Cool though small world! Looking foward to the BYU vs. Utah game this weekend! Go Cougs!

Wow! What a great trip! I went there a few years ago with my family (before I had kids) and ever since I've had them, I've thought they would love a place like that. Fun.

Dave was that way about turning 30 last year. But sheesh, Spencer has a Ph.D., a job, and a great family, what more could you ask for? Heh heh heh. Me on the other hand...NOT so excited about turning 30 because I have accomplished nothing. Happy birthday Spencer!

Nancy Says - 30 - How could this be....I was there so I should know! What a great day it was. Thanks for coming to our home Spencer. You have been a model son (except for the hood ornament incident) I cannot think of one thing you have done wrong!!! What a great wife you have and she is so good to you and those 2 cute darling girls...we all adore you all. keep up the good work. Calif is fun. I want to visit again...but get rid of that smog in Newport Beach.

Love, Mom
