I recently found this picture and it means a lot to me. It's amazing how I've forgotten the details of my 1 year old Kate's face. It was taken at my sister Michelle's wedding and I'm so glad I have it. Speaking of glad, this evening we had a little family lesson based on the idea, "Be Grateful". It was wonderful. I started by saying specific ways that I was grateful for Kate; that she is so full of life and curious and excited about doing anything and everything. Kate took this idea and ran with it. She is grateful for "Mommy because she makes cake" and "Daddy does puzzles with me". She is also grateful for pink, purple, yellow, and white flowers. This is particularly funny because she said it while staring at photographs of these flowers that are hanging on the wall. It kind of reminded me of Kevin Spacey in Usual Suspects. It was also nice to hear that Spencer is grateful that I take care of him, because truth be told, I am a control freak and he still finds a way to appreciate even that about me.

that IS a great picture. what a sweet story, so glad you wrote it down! i always forget these little things that make the difference in my mom-hood.
She's so precious! It's so fun to go back and look at old pictures! It's amazing how fast they change.
